I am making this so you guys who are interested in the launch can get a front seat view since I have been confirmed and have a front seat view (no set seats but we are planning on leaving VERY early)- so if you want a better "view" of the launch thanks to me- let me know. :)

I'm just postin so you guys can enjoy my excitement too :)

Also- let me know- you want me to do a Scott Manley style narration to the video or do you want silence :/ ... You can tell me.

Lasly- let me know if you enjoy the video or want some more! As I will gladly make more!

What type of camera/lens are you using to film it? I've never had the opportunity to film a launch, but I understand that they are challenging. The pros make it look easy, but with exhaust that is as bright as the sun, you'll need to deal with a high dynamic range. It probably won't be that big a deal if you're using a wide angle lens (i.e. GoPro or cell phone), but the camera will struggle more as you fill more of the frame.

Maybe you're already experienced with this type of filming, but if not, maybe some of us here can offer suggestions on things you might try to get a better result?

Well that's better than a jab in the eye with a sharp stick. I'm excited for you and can't wait to see your vid. Remember to save it to a more permanent medium. It may be an historic launch and the vid may be valuable to future generations. Imagine having an original hard copy of Apollo 13.

You could ask someone you know to lend you a better camera...

You are realy lucky, a rocket launch is something i want to see someday in my life, especialy such a big rocket. Im currently planning to fly to the USA in 2017/2018 (and saving for it) and i hope to see the SLS launch...

Oh, please; let's put this in perspective, it's an uncrewed launch of some test hardware. How many documentaries have you seen about AS-201?

 I knew he'd find something.

I wonder if Ken Kremers' net worth went up any after his shots of the recent Antares failure at Wallups? Oh, that's after the NTSB confiscated them. They sure seemed to be glad Ken and others were filming.

It may not be Apollo 13 or the lost tapes of 11- BUT It's still a major event and at least this film WHICH WILL BE PUT ON DVD or something as permanent and will be kept! Since it is definitely worth keeping for future generations... or at least my own :) .

I agree. I flew down to Florida once to see a launch of Atlantis. I even paid a bus tour company to take me out onto the part of the causeway on the KSC grounds that you can only access with a special permit (I had a pretty good view of Atlantis standing on the pad from where they dropped us off). Unfortunately the launch was cancelled during the T-9 minute hold. My regret isn't that I didn't get to see that launch. It is that I never tried again.

If I had a chance to see a launch today, I'd beg, borrow (but not steal) the best camera equipment that I could get my hands on and then get there early so that I could take it all in. I'm looking forward to seeing what ZooNamedGames comes up with.

I promise that I will do the best I can :D !!

Also- compromise-

You guys want me to narrate LIVE on camera AS the launch countdown occurs (aka like 2 minutes and before that). So as you guys wait for the launch instead of listening to the crowd I can teach you NASA stuff :3 ?

I just like being a NASA Fan-atic :P .

CDs and DVDs do not have a long life. They are being corrupted by oxygen seeping through the disk's edge.

I say nothing until the thing is high enough that you can here youself, then AC/DC, or some mystical music. :D:sticktongue:

You realize I'm not gonna be sitting at the viewing center for two hours... I'm gonna be there 3 or 4 waiting for it to launch... soooo by the time it's high- I'm on my last few minutes of being at the viewing center.

So I suggest you think that over and come back with a better idea.

My plan is to have a PRE-Narration. So that you get the whole story prior to its ignition in the FIRST place and the only "noise" is me and the people.

Zoo you should take these kind of launches seriously. A crappy iphone 4 camera won't do.

You do realize a ton of people have never seen a real rocket launch with their own eyes?

Some people(like me) never even saw a real life space shuttle or F22. Now imagine how lucky you are to see NASA's future spacecraft launch, in fact, its first. And you want to present us with a video from a crappy iphone 4 5 megapixel camera?

You do realize the thing doesn't even have optical zoom!

Go out there and lend a PROPER camera right now, and also grab a tripod to stabilize it.

Thank the stars you are so lucky and be so kind as to provide us with a unique video. Thank you.

Btw can you embed a countdown timer into the main post?

P.S. Like someone already mentioned, using a DVD is the worst possible way to store info in the 21st century.

Be serious and make sure to SAVE that footage for years to come.

Put it on an external hard drive.

Put it on a DVD for fun.

Back it up to a cloud service.

Upload the video to YouTube and/or Vimeo.

Done. Your video will be safe for decades.

I've seen two or three Shuttle launches, at least one was at night. Quite spectacular.

I was one of the lucky ones who was still able to witness them. No more, now.
