Rocket Assembly

When I am assembling reasonable sized rocket I often run into the problem that peices just wont snap to what I want them to. I imagine this is mainly a result of using semi 2d controls to assemble a 3d ship but it feels like there has to be an easier way, considering some of the monstrosities people on this forum have put together.

My main issue is adding fuel tanks to the top of a stack... once I have a number of parts on, they just do not want to snap to that attachment point. When I drag them overtop they decide they want to attach to something behind, or do nothing at all.

Basically, I was wondering if anybody had any tips to help me out.

I usually try changing the camera angle to make sure the attachment point is positioned so there is nothing behind it.

Failing that, it\'s possible to build a temporary stand off with some form of side attachment, build an assembly on that, then disconnect it and set it aside, detach the stand off parts, then attach the assembly in position.

When adding to the bottom of a stack, useing the LEFT ALT and LEFT CLICK at the same time creates a copy of what you have clicked on, so you place one stack of 3 LFT and an Engine down, then LEFT ALT + LEFT CLICK on the top LFT in that stack and you have 3 LFTs and the engine that you place in one go, it makes it a lot easier.

Also, for aligning parts, you have to align the blue spheres on the part, and not the part itself. Frustrating, very.

Try to align the camera so the blue sphere you\'re aiming to attach to doesn\'t have anything behind it, and that you\'re looking 'away' from the surface (i.e. if you\'re attaching to the bottom, have the camera up higher and pointed down)
