Better Beta Instruction Challenge

Your challenge is simple:

Now that KSP has entered Beta (version 0.90, Beta Than Ever), write the best tutorial for KSP beginners.

The duration of this challenge is - the lifetime of version 0.90.

--> Updated now 0.90 is a real thing!

Rules:

  1. Must be posted in the 'tutorials' section of the forum during the lifetime of version 0.90 and not closed by moderators before the next update.
  2. Must be stock; because it's for brand new players
  3. Must be written (with optional still images); because ... that's the point of this challenge (and you can say much more than in a tedious video)
  4. Does not need to include installation; because Steam makes it awkward
  5. Must include an explanation of the different game modes; because they're confusing enough for a mini-game
  6. Must include starting, saving and resuming games; because that's what newbies need to do!
  7. Must include explanation of the Space Centre scene*; because it's home
  8. Must include explanation of the VAB/SPH/Tracking Centre*; because you can't leave home without them
  9. Must include details of, or references to, sufficient* information for newbies to be able to build and fly a vehicle to orbit and know where to look for further information; because then they won't be newbies any more

Anything else you want to write in addition to that should be reflected in the scoring:

i) 1 per point per view

ii) 100 points for being included in "The Drawing Board"

iii) 100 points for being 'stickied'

In accordance with the challenge guidelines I am writing a suitable entry. Examples for the moment are i) Spheniscine's Guide, which sal_vager has stickied as Tutorial Of The Month for December, and my Exploring The System, which has more views than anything else published this year** (but which sal_vager ignored ... not that I'm bitter or anything ... :-( *sob* ). NB: since these were published before 0.90 was released they don't count for the challenge.

* How much explanation/detail and how well you write it is what will make your tutorial more or less attractive. :-)

** Correct as at 18.12.2014

0.90 has been released - do your best for the newbies :-)

peachoftree - I see your point, although those shouldn't overpower 'the popular vote'. The tricky bit here is we can't guess how long it will be until 0.91 (or whatever). As a guide my existing tutorial (link in sig and all that) has been getting ~100 views/day. Opinions, everyone? I'm relaxed about the Drawing Board being worth 100 or even 1,000 because it's something every entry should be worthy of. On the other hand there's only likely to be time for one or two (at a guess) to be 'tutorial of the month'. Opinions, again?
