How do you properly "add" saved ships and sub-assemblies?

I installed the mod, FASA - NASA expansion. But I am having trouble adding the sub-assemblies. In the instructions, it says to place the FASA "saves" folder into the Kerbal Space Program\Saves\(whatever name you want) location. I did this, but the pre-built assemblies and FASA ships are not showing up in game in the sandbox.....what am I doing wrong?
