What now?

Recommended Posts

I explored Kerbin's Biomes ( KSC, Launchpad, Poles. Still have a small bit too do)

I have reached Minmus and done science. I haven't landed on Mun cause I heard Minmus is easier to land on and it is.

So what's next? Here is my tech tree so you know what I have. No mods (cause mods just crash my game. ;.;)

Some help would be great! Thanks :)

Do contracts, some of them gives science as reward, and the extra cash will allow you to build bigger rockets to get to more places. If you have the admin strategy of exchanging cash for science, then that will fill out your tech tree in a very short time.

Land on Mun.

Ok, I'll try. :)

I'm not doing Career mode, I'm doing Science. ^^'

Also, what are contracts? I'm new to this game XD

Contracts are specific goals present in career mode that give rewards such as funds, rep, and sometimes science. As far as what to do next, explore the Mun. Finish out that tech tree, go to Duna. Explore the Joolian system. The universe is your plaything. Have fun in it.

Contacts are literally what they sound like. Some of the fictional companies in KSP will offer you contracts to do things like "test engine XXX in orbit." They offer rewards of reputation, funds, and science at varying levels (based on contract difficulty). Contracts do not show up in Sandbox or Science mode, just career, and they provide a way to fund and develop your space program for career mode.

Welp, time to go to the mun then. Try to launch something with the lab and science equipments like the goo. It would give you a lot more science to work with.

Contracts are like...quests. They provide a specific challenge you have to overcome, whether that is just flying a craft with an unresearched part for experiment, or rescuing an orbiting kerbal, or sending things to other planets. Completing them rewards you with cash, science and reputation. Reps allow you to get harder, better (faster, stronger) contacts and is used for certain admin strategies. All of the reward allow you to expand your space program much larger.

It takes pretty substantial amounts of dV to land on Mun and re-orbit. But it takes less than 300 m/s (if I remember correctly) to leave Mun orbit on a trajectory that will re-enter Kerbin's atmosphere and let you parachute to a safe recovery. So my recommendation is to get what science you can while in Mun orbit, return to Kerbin, and then revise/improve your spacecraft so that you can land on the Mun next time.

Apollo 8 and 10 were real-life manned missions to Moon orbit, which were intended to come back without landing, as "practice runs". So if you come back now, you've made a perfectly acceptable successful mission that follows in NASA's footsteps.

If you make a moderately effwicent ship with a sviece lab aboard you can get every biome on minimus in one mission and rake craprons of science. The lab let's you recycle too and materials.

And go hit up the mun! You have more than enough parts for a man lander. If you need help building ships download kerbal engineer. Just extract the zip file into ksp. It gives a part which will display info like how much delta v each stage of your ship has.

The plan a mission eve, try to land l, fail, and engage I'm the joy of learning.

Mun. Docking. Space station. I did a space station in 3 parts, assembled in Munar orbit, now my lander can go down, then come back to station and refuel, then go down again. Find anamolies, without mods you'll have to search the 'net to see where they are. Try making planes if you need to be humbled and want to feel totally inadequate. ;) Also rovers. It's fun to design them and drive around Kerbin, next figure out how to get one to the Mun and drive around there. Just remember to quick save often!!!!

One of the real keys to getting good at this game is learning that bigger is not always better. Building a minimal ship is a skill that you'll develop over time, but with as much of the tech tree unlocked as you have, you've got more than enough parts to go anywhere in the entire solar system and come back home.

Practice launching into orbit efficiently with a good gravity turn and practice landing efficiently on the Mun with a good gravity turn. If you get bored with that, try heading to Duna and returning instead; it's not much harder. (Check out this page for orbital windows for a good transfer.) Like anything, it takes practice and you probably won't do it properly at first, but you'll get better quickly. :) Best of luck.
