The MachingBird Revive! 0.90 update

Are you talking about orbital speed, or speed over surface? In your album there's no image of the F3 flight log that shows your actual highest speed over land, which is what we measure here. Orbital speed is higher, this mistake has been made before as it is an easy one to make.

It's the difference between your actual speed over land and the actual speed through the air. You're not flying exactly parallel to the ground, you see?

Ahhh, gotcha. Didn't think of that. On most other flight games I play I'm more worried about my speed relative to the guy trying to kill me.

In a chase I'd find that to be a lot more important as well, but this is more like the landspeed record and that requires dealing in absolute, rather than relative speed. It also makes it an honest to god actualy hard to do challenge. Give it another go!

And I did it. 2,305. Think I've figured out what kept keeping me from breaking 2,300, so hopefully doing it again for an 'official' run shouldn't be a problem.

Just for clarification: Does the 'no mods' rule apply to Kerbal Engineer? It and the thing that prioritizes your inlets are the only ones I currently use and I don't see the problem with either, but figured I'd make sure.

I normally use Mechjeb for building purposes and then remove the control module prior to launch, it's never been an issue. It's about not flying on autopilot and using even more powerful parts to complete the challenge.

I don't know what "the thing that prioritizes your inlets" is and what it does. does it come with a name?

I'm certain it does, but I don't remember what it is and can't check the file on my work computer.

All it does is allow you to assign air intakes to a specific engine with a button press instead of having to use the 'place all inlets for engine 1, place engine 1...place all inlets for engine 2...place engine 2' method. Complete non-issue as the plane I hit 2,300 with is single engine, but thought I'd ask.

Well, might as well enter in the 0,90 manned category, although I guess it technically wouldn't qualify as the craft takes off vertically (unassisted single stage mind you). Made it to the Mach 6 club but couldn't quite make it to 2300m/s. Picture of the craft is from a slightly earlier attempt. I added a few more air scoops but it's otherwise identical.
