When launching the game from steam, a small selection window to choose if you want to launch the game using the 32 bit or 64 bit executable would be helpful! as an added note perhaps you could set a default for this. Hope you find this useful!

You can set this yourself, you know. From memory, you need to open the game's Properties from the Steam Library, and select Set Launch Options.

Enter the following (verbatim) in the dialog: (replace the path to the KSP_x64.exe if yours is in a different location than the default)

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\Steamapps\common\Kerbal Space Program\KSP_x64.exe %command%

You can add additional parameters to the end of the command (like -force-opengl or -popupwindow or whatever you happen to require). Do note that you'll have to remember to remove this if you want to play x32 once again. In addition, the path will be different if you're using Linux, naturally. This is assuming a Windows OS.

And be sure the path to the executable is correct -- if it is not, Steam will fail to launch the game, and simply display an error. This isn't technically an intended behaviour of Steam, either, so it may or may not stop working entirely in some future Steam update.
