Seems pricey. I\'m not familiar with External HD\'s, and I know HD prices jumped because of a flooding last year, but I\'m used to buying Internal HD\'s, 640gb at about $60

I only have USB 2.0 ports on my pc.

The last time I plugged in a USB 3.0 device my PC heated it to the point if you touch it you get burned...

Plus that year we reached heats up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit...

I think that thing is pretty cheap. If you want a simple, cheap one, this is a good choice.

Just a little heads-up,

You can make nearly any SATA or IDE hard drive (2.5 or 3.5) into an external drive with a RCW-608 adapter from Rosewill.

It\'s USB 2.0, I use one constantly, and have bought three others for friends.

There are other similar products, but this one comes with a protection sleeve for both 2.5 and 3.5 hard drives. For the price it\'s tough to beat. Also very useful when testing CD/DVD drives.

Hard drives actually operate better at warmer temperatures, up until about 50C.

100F is actually relatively cool. But hard drives in computer cases stay fairly cool because they dissipate heat to the case.
