I don\'t actually hate America. In fact, I\'m rather a fan. But I\'d appeal to the patriotism which appears common in your country.

Yes, you understand, don\'t you - the pride in your country that sometimes brings you to tears when the National Anthem is played. Especially when you\'ve achieved something significant as a nation, such as landing on the moon, winning Gold at the Olympics or some such.

Now consider - instead of being proud of being American, you\'re proud of being Australian. Or English. Or Zimbabwean for that matter.

No, for many of us, despite not having any problems with the USA, becoming American would be too high a price to pay for even the amazing joy of being an astronaut.

However, I even envy the Canadians - since they have a Space Agency, at least the Americans will fly their astronauts without them having to become Americans. For crying out loud, it\'d only take one guy in Canberra with a desk and a sign saying 'Australian Space Agency'. We spend more on buying bow ties for our diplomats every year . . .

Also gaining inpdedence from one of the most power-fullest nation at the time,

I don\'t hate americans or america. Its just a country with a very vocal population. I really respect most americans, just not the politicians.
