crash to desktop while loading

Recommended Posts

The output log says you ran out of memory, the error log shows you have some free, but not much. Also, the error log claims an access violation.

Close everything you have open in the background before you run KSP, so you have the entirety of your RAM avaliable for it to use, and see if it still crashes.

EDIT:

Also, being on a 4GB system, you really should be keeping an eye on RAM usage even on Stock, which tends to use in excess of 1GB of memory on occasion

Chances are, while you have 88% RAM used, the other 12% was already allocated but not used, so there was no more RAM to be able to allocate.

It appears you might have some corrupt files. Have Steam run a check of the local game cache (Right click KSP in the Steam Library -> Properties -> Local Files tab -> Verify Integrity).

In addition, you're running out of VRAM before the game finishes loading. Open up the settings.cfg you'll find in C:\Program Files\Steam\Steamapps\common\Kerbal Space Program and change the TEXTURE_QUALITY setting to 2. Make sure you open the file with Notepad or something similar -- do not use WordPad; it can destroy the file's encoding settings, making it impossible for KSP to read it.

Try running it after that. :)
