Kerbals experience - What are the steps

I have flown a few kerbals, it seem to have specific steps in XP gain

So far i got:

-Flight at Kerbin

-Orbit Kerbin

So what are the next ones ? Mun Orbit ? Minmus Orbit ? Landed at Mun ? Minmus ?

It does not, or at least I can not find the information.

It DOES have what the levels of experience grant the kerbal, but it does not list out, exactly, what GAINS XP .

unless I am completely missing it.

XP is gained per SOI, basically. Only once per SOI per Kerbal. If you flyby multiple bodies you can get multiple XP, but only 1/SOI... afaik. I'm not quite sure on all of it but that's the baseline I've run into.

On Kerbin, the highest experience is awarded for Orbit.

Flight = 1

Fly By = 1.5

Orbit = 2

On bodies other than Kerbin, the highest exp return is for Flag Planting.

Note that these are base values, a multiplier is applied depending on the body:

Fly By = 1

Orbit = 1.5

Flight = 2

Land = 2.3

Plant Flag = 2.5

It actually makes sense, my Jeb got 5XP on his return from planting a flag on the mun. Recap in astronaut complex shows Orbit Kerbin =1, Plant flag on Mun =5, just a bit short of his second star.

Kind of a bummer that my Jeb doesn't have 2 stars yet after a fantastic mun mission with a planted flag and 750k worth of contracts fulfilled.

...I suppose the easiest way to get XP would be a Jool-4 mission? (Jool-5 sans Tylo)

Other than that, Gilly might be another easy target to land on.

And do crew in Hitchhikers and crew bays get XP, or only guys in command pods? I can picture mass-leveling up kerbals using that new fancy Mk3 crew bay that holds 16 Kerbals...

"Okay, folks, now for the Duna flyby. You should get a feeling in a moment..."

Everyone in the crew bay: "Wow, I feel... I feel more experienced... Get out of the way, Jeb, I KNOW HOW TO FLY THIS THING NOW"

So my second pilot got 6 XP from his trip to Minmus...

2 for the Kerbin orbit, 6 for planting flag on Minmus
