Trouble with part testing contract.

Recommended Posts

I just had a question about part testing. As you can see from this screenshot.

I have a contract to test the LV-T45 engine (in fact I tried a few engine contracts similar to this with the same issue). So I looked around a bit after getting frustrated, and found that this tactic when you don't have the clamps unlocked yet supposedly work. Problem is that it doesn't for me. Both Kerbin and Landed conditions are met. I fire up the Fuel Engine, let it burn all the way through with the conditions still met, and yet, nothing. No contract completed.

This is honestly quite frustrating, can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Here are things I've tried:

- Right click "run test" (there's no run test options)

- Attaching just the engine and activating that through stage

- Attaching clamps to the shuttle and firing the engine without disengaging the clamps

- Adding empty stages before or after the engine stage.

- Adding different engine at different stages before or after the test engine.

- Having only the engine with no fuel source directly attached to the pod.

- Making the entire shuttle upside down and firing it from stage there so it stayed stationary on the launch pad.

- Quitting the career and resuming it.

- Quitting the game and restarting it.

None have worked.

I love the game, but this is game breaking my career, and honestly incredibly frustrating. :( I'd love if anyone had a fix, or if this is a bug maybe that will be fixed in the future?

EDIT: Seems I solved my issue. I did a full reinstall of the game and things seem to be working as intended now.

What I always do is make a normal rocket, set thrust very very low, press spacebar and then press x and recover it for 100%. It won't move but it will fulfill the contract. Maybe the problem is that your engine isn't pointing to the ground?

I've tried doing that at various throttle increments keeping the kerbin and landed checkmarked to no avail, it doesn't complete the contract for me. Also the part testing sometimes ask to test boosters, no throttle control there, so the tactic wouldn't always work. :(
