Game keeps launching x64 even though i havent chosen it in the launcher.

Recommended Posts

Since it keeps launching x64 it keeps crashing, i cant seem to get it to launch 32bit, is there anything i can do? Or do i have to reinstall the game? (It was bought through steam if that helps)

There are no mods installed as i removed them all yesterday at 0.90 launch.

Thanks in advance.

All crashes have been when loading for a launch/takeoff/heading back to VHB/SPH.

Ksp version 0.90.0.705. Beta (x64) Regardless of the fact that i have not chosen to launch it in x64

Check your Steam launch options (Steam Library -> Kerbal Space Program (right-click) -> Properties -> Set Launch Options). Is there anything entered there?

(Also, your Dropbox links are spitting out a 403 Access Denied error. I suspect that's because they might not be in a Public folder.)

Hmm. Weird. That log seems to show it's running the x32 version of the game. There's one way to check for sure, though. Start KSP, and then open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc). Look for KSP.exe under the Processes tab. If that process is running, the x32 version of the game is running.

That is also what the task manager showed, guess it crashed because of mods and such.

Am i the only one who has the launcher problem where it keeps launching 64bit even though it is not chosen under advanced options? I will now not use launcher ofcourse but figured it would be good to spread awareness.

I had nothing but problems with the launcher as soon as it was introduced, I believe in 0.20-0.21 (I may be wrong). While it seems like a better way to get your graphics configured than having to open the game, in practice is more of a nuissance.

  • 3 weeks later...

I'm having this same issue, though mine is not an unmodded install.

I have a test install of KSP used for testing dev version of mods. This KSP version was made by copying my steam install of KSP to a new directory and creating a shortcut to Launcher.exe on my desktop.

When I open the launcher and hit play, it launches the KSP_x64.exe instead of the x32 version (confirmed by the game giving me the x64 bit warning on load and Task manager says KSP_x64 is running).

If I open the launcher, open the settings, close the settings, THEN hit play it will launch the x32 bit version of the game as I do NOT have the x64 bt option selected in the settings. I am running a 64-bit version of windows, so I'm wondering if theres some fault in the launcher detecting this and launching the corresponding version of the game.

If I tell the launcher to not show me the launcher again, it will open the 64 bit version of the game no matter what I do.
