Complete game lockup when using symmetry

Recommended Posts

KSP Version: 0.90 (Build ID 00705) OSX 32 bit

What Happens: Complete game lockup, spinning beach ball of death, must force quit game.

Mods / Add-Ons: All Stock

Steps to Replicate:

1) Go to spaceplane hanger

2) Select any cockpit

3) Attach a 2.5m to 4x 1.25m adapter

4) Select Rapier engine

5) With symmetry set to mirror, place engine over node on adapter, game freezes.

OR

5) With symmetry set to none, place engine over adapter but do not set in place.

6) Click symmetry to mirror, game freezes.

Result: Complete game freeze as symmetry is applied or if symmetry is enabled before placing part.

Fixes/Workarounds:

- Do not use symmetry, must place engines one by one.

Other Notes/Pictures/Log Files:

- This is not a new problem. This symmetry problem has occurred since as far back as 0.23, usually with parachutes or nose cones. It is very disappointing to see this continuing in beta on a completely stock install.

- Two images showing engine placement before and after applying symmetry once the game was locked up. - Here

- Log file

Yeah, this bug has been around since I started playing the game unfortunately.

That workaround doesn't work in this case, at least not when I tested it a couple hours ago. Whether symmetry was enabled before or after placing the part on the node didn't matter, it still causes the freeze. This bug should be very easily to replicate.

I remember that workaround working with nosecones awhile ago though.
