0.90 - Unable to run in full screen any resolution

Recommended Posts

ASUS G75, i7 CPU, 8.00 GB RAM

Running from steam.

Drivers up to date.

Problem happens by starting in:

- full screen,

- starting in windowed and setting to full screen via settings menu,

- starting in windowed and alt-tab to full screen, and

- starting in windowed and setting to full screen via settings menu on a different resolution

I had the problem last night on a modded version after the update. So, removed the mods and continued to have the problem. Then I uninstalled Kerbal and deleted all of the the game files. I downloaded kerbal and did a fresh intall. I am still experiencing the same problem.

When full screen is checked then click apply, the app goes full screen, but a black square appears in the bottom left corner (approx 1/6 of the entire screen). Then after clicking accept, the main menu of the app appears normally in the square in the bottom left but showing as if it were 1/6th of the main menu screen normally. The rest of the screen is still the settings -> graphics screen and flashes flashes extremely rapidly.

When this occurs I have been able to successfully alt-tab and bring up the main menu normally, but this does not happen every time. In the failed attempts the screen remains black and can be brought back to normally display content by alt-enter to windowed mode.

When alt-tab is successful and the main menu is displaying correctly in full screen. Clicking the settings option freezes on the loading screen and stays that way until alt-enter bring it back to windowed.

I thought that the new install would have not saved the "-force-opengl" which was preventing my game from randomly crashing before the update. I just tired this after taking the "-force-opengl" out and it is not having a problem. Now I wonder if the previous crashing issue will return.

Forcing OpenGL is a bit weird in fullscreen at the moment. Some people have it working, but only part of the screen will display anything, and sometimes it just doesn't work at all. You can circumvent this (if you want to use OpenGL) by combining the -force-opengl option with the -popupwindow option to use borderless window mode. :)
