Give Kerbals the ability to "command" their own physics bubble

Recommended Posts

With players trying to mimic NASA, a lot of times they find ways to undock two ships in atmosphere and have one fly off from the one with the camera. This leads to huge problems as physics shuts off at around 2.2km distance from the focus point.

Perhaps a feature could be added to allow a Kerbal to maintain their own bubble of physics, allowing all automated parts of that Kerbal's craft to continue functioning in the player's absence, and keeping physics calculations running.

If you support adding such a feature, post below explaining how you would use it! I know someone who would use the feature to launch an orbiter rocket from a high-flying plane. I would use the feature to make a station stop spinning during docking, among other things.

It may be beneficial to simulate physics on working craft (kerbal or probe core). I would support this, however, kerbals cannot keep there spacecraft in the air so I see little point. If the latter changes I will support the Former.

A pilot can maintain attitude. If you set the pilot's plane angled upward a bit, it will take a while to go down. Would be nice, though, if pilots could learn to maintain a heading and not let it gradually slip.
