Super Sonic

Team Kerbal,

I was flying a mission to go survey some land when it hit me. Why haven't I seen/heard a sonic boom around my aircraft. Does anyone know if there is a mod/ or if its possible in standard game that will actually generate the vapor cloud that so many people are familiar? Its a reasonably small effect(I believe) but would add a "certain, I don't know what" to the game. Thoughts?

You don't actually hear a sonic boom if you're inside the aircraft. The "sonic boom" is caused by a shock wave passing over observers on the ground (or elsewhere). There is no shockwave inside the aircraft, so you don't hear the boom. A common misconception is that the noise is caused by an aircraft "breaking the sound barrier", and is an instantaneous noise at Mach 1. It's actually continuous for anything travelling above the speed of sound, and the reason you only hear one boom is because it only passes over you once.
