Add lighting to all crew cabins

Recommended Posts

The recently added Mk2 and Mk3 cockpits have internal lighting: If you right-click on them, you can turn the window lights on and off. This is a really cool feature because it allows you to light up spaceplanes at night and in orbit. However, it's only spaceplanes that can be lit up... which kind of leaves behind the other cockpits.

At the moment, a space station in orbit looks even worse than deserted Kerbin. It looks as if some sort of space horror movie took place, because all the lights are turned off and there's no sign of life. :P

I realize that texturing takes time, but Porkjet already seems to have the code working in the spaceplane cockpits, and this feature would be great for aesthetics, in my opinion... what do you guys think?

I feel the internal lighting of the new parts is a bonus, more of a side product of PorkJets work. They do look nice, but to change all the other parts because 2 new ones act a little differently (it actually adds no function though) is a task itself. Its possible things may be changed in the future, but at the same time it could also be easier to just remove the Internal Lighting on the new parts to make everything uniform haha.

But that would go over some work PorkJet already had going for his own part pack. This is such a non critical issue the game could be released with the current setup and I would have no problem with it. (could always just say the SpacePlane parts are more advanced so they have internal lights)

But the thing is, the current cockpits look ugly... maybe just now that I know what it could be like :P

Seriously though, I can't be the only one with this problem. Like I said in the OP, don't space stations look devoid of life at the moment? Shouldn't there be some sign of civilization in that dark, floating capsule?

EDIT: In fact, might as well extend that idea. Perhaps lights should only function if there's someone inside (not turned on by default, I mean it only ALLOWS YOU to turn them on if there's someone inside.)

While the light-up cockpits certainly look better than the ones that don't. I would rather have actual glass functionality in stock KSP:

However, if you want to go with the least amount of work... at least add the light up cockpits.

It's cool, but I'd still prefer if this was stock... nobody seems to like my idea though :(

Oh definitely. Would be amazing if it was stock, I was just suggesting something to tide you over. I love the idea, don't worry.

As would I, but doesn't that use a lot more memory than normal? I'd prefer for Winx64 to be stable first, then we can have nice things. But yeah, would love something like this.
