Question about the 0.90.0 satellite contracts

Recommended Posts

Question about the 0.90.0 satellite contracts. Does the probe have to be unmanned from launch or can a manned flight deploy the probe? I ask because I'm playing with Remote Tech and don't have a satellite network setup yet so going unmanned from launch will be problematic.

You can deploy manned, it just has to be unmanned once it's left alone with just the probe.

EDIT: Note, though, you're going to find it tough to get both the satellite AND a MK1 pod into a lot of those orbits without purchasing upgrades.

Ohhh... Good point... I've upgraded the VAB and the launch pad but I'm not sure I can get a precise orbit without maneuver nodes.... Bummer...

It's not THAT big a deal without nodes, thanks to the target orbit being displayed in the map and the tolerances being fairly loose. Just coast to about where your Ap/Pe/AN/DN seem to be and burn at low throttle while observing the results. The tolerances on the orbits really illustrate the "close enough for government work" thing. I've had contracts complete when still at least 5^ off the specified inclination because my Ap and Pe were pretty close.
