NASA's A3 test stand What does our future hold?

I'm sure many of you have heard about the recent completion of the A3 test stand for the cancelled constellation program. If you haven't here is an article:

Let's try to keep this civil. What do you think? Will NASA ever take us to Mars or will that have to come from the private sector? Maybe you think something altogether different will happen.

Just remember, this isn't about what you think SHOULD happen or politics, just about what you think WILL happen, optimism is appreciated of course.

We need to go to Mars. But NASA was doomed from the start. It was a program to counter the soviet's rocket program. I don't see any soviets. Although china could make the US competitive...

NASA might, but at most it'll be flags-and-footprints. A private sector mission will probably do more than that.
