Now I know how NASA felt...

Im in career now and im launching a shuttle to test LOTS of stuff. However the launch cost is 65,522 funds. Not sure how much an average launch costs but I only have 70,939 funds. It should make up for the launch costs though as I have station science and the recovery strategy at 100% commitment.

Im testing the engine and the gyroscope and there are also goo cans hiding behind the science bays.

Or faulty American heat tiles?

Or faulty American attachment brackets, which would hold an SRB to the external tank?

Preferably you want to avoid anything faulty, regardless of its country of origin, really.

65 thousand isn't that bad, but it is pretty high. Based on the amount you make back if you land it correctly it may be more efficient than a disposable stack like I always use.

That said you could probably launch that payload for maybe half the cost with a stack, but you'd make back less.

Yeah I don't have DRE installed :P So how much does your average launch cost?

Depends on payload mass. Also on RSS installation/configuration, though that is probably irrelevant to this situation. It's hard to come up with an "average cost" when I am sometimes lofting 100kg satellites, and sometimes lofting 110-tonne interplanetary vessels.

Also, try to avoid faulty O-rings.

O-rings weren't faulty. There was lowest temperature they can be used, it was known, and ignored by NASA top brass.

Problems with ice buildup were known, and ignored too.

There is kind of managers, who think they above laws of physics.
