Solar Station, Contract .90

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

so I searched for an full hour now and i cannot find a thread for the "Solar Station" Contract in 0.90. If there is one, please redirect me.

Long story short, i got a new contract. It says I gotta bring up a station in solar orbit which has to support 12 (!) kerbals. I wanted to ask if someone has experience with this contract before i try to launch twelve unlucky bastards up there.

Is this doable with only squad parts? Does a command pod count?

Pls help.

PS: Sry if i got something wrong, not a native speaker.

Remember the contracts are based on a mod called FINE PRINT.*

It doesn't say "the station has to have twelve kerbals on board," it says "the stations has to be able to support twelve kerbals"

I've launched a couple of stations now. All unmanned, and deorbited them as soon as the contract was fulfilled (what's the point in having dozens of stations in orbit?)

* In addition, do you yourself a favor and check the contract requirements on the launch pad. The only unfullfilled item at that point should be "in orbit." It would be a shame to have orbited your station succesfully only to find out that you needed a thermometer or docking port on your station...

It's certainly possible, the "solar station" contract is actually just a general space station contract that can be linked to any body, so it could be spawned for minmus, the mun, Duna, etc. In this case, you need to get a station with 12 kerbals in orbit around the sun.

Anyways, I figure the easiest way would just to send 12 kerbals (using command pods, or hitchhiker modules, if you have them) into Solar orbit. However, don't expect to be able to get them back; it's really hard to meet up with another craft in solar orbit.

(And yes, command pods do count towards the 12 kerbal total, and it's perfectly possible with only the regular parts.)

EDIT: Completely missed that, the above post mentions that you don't even have to have 12 kerbals in the station, so in theory you could send it into solar orbit with a probe core, and no kerbals, but with enough space to *store* 12 kerbals.

Okay, didnt noticed it was a mod based contract, thanks for that.

So did you just shot a station with command pods in orbit and linked them or did you used orbital labs, too?

and thanks for the fast answer

EDIT: Okay I`ll try to complete the contract with command pods, thx for your answers!
