Clamp-o-tron Jr. won't show "decouple node"

Recommended Posts

I have made a rocket with a few small drones on the sides to be released that are attached directly to clamp-o-tron Jr.s i.g. main body, Jr. docking port, ion engine. Unfortunately when I try to release them I only see the "control from here" menu option. I even tried to release them by using action groups that are assigned to decouple node option but that also failed. Luckily the first was to be released in LKO so I didn't waste too much time but I wan't to be able to release them without using decouplers.

Assuming the Clamp-O-Tron Jr.'s are surface-attached, the most likely explanation is that you've accidentally attached the ion engine's node to the "inner" node on the Clamp-O-Tron. Since they're not attached to the outer "docking" node, they won't undock.

If it's connected correctly, you should be able to see the entirety of the ion engine's yellow ring (and, indeed, a very narrow gap between the bottom of the ion engine and the top of the Clamp-O-Tron). You'll have to adjust it in the VAB before you try launching it again.
