togfox
My table is generated auto-magically from my database. I can output in Nice HTML format but it seems this forum technology doesn\'t support that.

DonLorenzo
I\'m assuming that for the \'leave something in orbit\' just a naked decoupler doesn\'t count? (ie attach a radial decoupler with nothing attached and jettison that)
togfox
You can leave any sort of debris in orbit. PE/AP need to be above 70000. The Kerbal press will applaud the discovery of perpetual orbits and it\'s readers will marvel at how this might be useful in the future.
DonLorenzo
Oh I just noticed a mistake has snuck into things. My turn 3 craft is listed as costing 6325, which is false it should be 6550. I backtracked through the forum and e-mails and it\'s my fault; in the e-mail I listed 2x Small fuel tank as costing 225 (which is the price of 1), what should obviously have been 450. Also, I see 35K apparently still pays more than 70, and 1400 east pays the same as orbit. I\'ve laid out before why I think sticking with the pure math is not the best decision, you probably don\'t agree which is fine and I don\'t see the need to have the same discussion again. However that said, I am brooding on some ideas of my own, would you mind if I started laying the groundwork for a second campaign? I won\'t start it just yet (I think one at a time is enough, at least until this one is underway a bit more so that the two will be in clear different stages).Cheers
togfox
For fairness, it would add insult to injury to pay ppl different amounts for the same mission.I think the selection of missions needs careful thought and a lot of tweaking and we can do that here. I\'ll adjust your ship cost next turn. Thx for being honest.
DonLorenzo
Yeah, that\'s fair enough. The missions are too close together in difficulty I think. It\'s a nice idea to have a neat sequential set of objectives, but the stock parts, the thin atmosphere and the steep gravity gradient make the actual increase in difficulty from one mission to the next very small. The same will be true for the next missions you designed, especially the \'orbit, orbit with rcs, orbit while leaving anything behind, deploy powersat\'. These are all the same in difficulty really. The same for anything concerning mun orbit/return.I think for my campaign in the future I will make missions more about delivering payloads and requiring a certain time in space, with the tech levels focussing on reducing part cost and/or increasing salvage percentage. Anyway, turn 4 submitted!

UmbralRaptor
Hm. R&D costs are becoming prohibitive. TL3 is expensive enough to be slow to get. Most of us don\'t have the funds to buy TL4 and run a mission. We\'ll have to see if anyone can get the funds for TL5.
RulerOfNothing
Ok, why is it that my command module can survive impacts at over 20 m/s on solid ground, but if I try to land in the water, 16.8 m/s makes the whole thing go \'sploosh\'? Oh and I guess I\'ll get my turn 4 craft to you togfox in a few hours.

When there\'s stuff below the command module, it\'s because they slow it down a bit before exploding. The CM\'s effective impact speed might be below 14 m/s. On water... not so much. As best I can tell, parts get vaporized on impact.

RulerOfNothing
OK, I suppose I can make a ship go 350km if I can get around the fact that the paint on the spacecraft parts comes off if I land at more than 15m/s and that they seem to be made either out of sodium or those alien materials from X-COM that are instantly destroyed on contact with seawater. togfox, can I jettison the ZOxygen module at altitudes of less than 5km?
