(Ubuntu 14.04) Dissapearing Kerbin at the Space Center, Lag, Bluescreen VAB

Recommended Posts

Hi there!

I just got KSP for the first time, and gave it a spin on my Windows 8.1. install - no problems whatsoever. But I wanted to try Ferram's mods, and seeing as how they don't work under x64 Windows, I decided to install it under my Ubuntu 14.04 install (both times through Steam). I tested it without mods first, but sadly, it didn't work as expected. The main menu was fluid and not a problem at all, but as soon as I start a game it becomes laggy and the graphics go wierd. See the pictures below.

Kerbin (and most of the Space Center) dissapearing:

I've tried the Steam launch parameters

LD_PRELOAD="libpthread.so.0 libGL.so.1" __GL_THREADED_OPTIMIZATIONS=1 ./Steam

but they don't help.

Here is the lshw output (abridged) as a reference for my hardware, I think I have all the latest drivers:

Is there any way I can get KSP to run properly? Thanks in advance for any advice :D

You have 2 GPUs, no? which one are you running KSP with?

The on-die intel GPU will most likely a) struggle with KSP, or any game for that matter. & B) require you to use the 'fallback shaders' in GFX settings.

Is this laptop an optimus/primus setup? If so, install the NVIDIA proprietary drivers & look here or here.

I don't have any hardware with this setup to test, so YMMV.

Also, post your Player.log
