Navball Bug With MK2 Clamp-O-Tron

Recommended Posts

v0.90.0.705 Beta - Steam

I did *NOT* post this reddit thread, but it has screenshots of the exact issue I'm experiencing with the MK2 Clamp-O-Tron.

That said, I can post any requested pics of this bug.

Looks like the game is getting the orientation right, but taking the position to be the root part instead of the docking port.

To test if that is the case, you could use the re-root feature in the VAB to change the root to a fuel tank (or the port itself) to see if the position the navball reports is different.

If that's right, this will be an issue with all docking ports, but it will just be less apparent with ones you stack on top of a command pod.

Just testing now, and it seems you are right. Changing the root part to the inline clamp-o-tron seems to have fixed the orientation. Is this a bug, or moving forward, just something we will need to watch out for when using docking ports that are not sitting on top of the command pod?

Provided that it would be neat to have the position set as the control part instead of the root, this is either a needed fix, or a suggestion to make.

Oh, did I mention that there is a *eyes passing over your signature* ... nevermind

*nods*, I'm also a programmer myself, and I could imagine the support nightmare that would come with a modded installation. I play vanilla for several reasons:

- Easier to support

- Easier to get support

- Harder to break saved games through upgrades

- Less to maintain (from the user side, no mods to keep up to date)

Plus, you have no idea what direction the programmers are going to go. No one could have guessed 2 years ago that the buildings (of all things) would be upgradable and destructible.
