DMSP
Laythe. The only other celestial body besides Kerbin with a breathable atmosphere. The only Mün with an atmosphere.I have always have loved Laythe, but I never got there built a massive permanent colony. I have built bases, but eventually I think they are too "old" and transfer the crew to new bases. So, in 0.90, I have Bob on the North pole, due to a crash. I'll rescue him, but first here you are, Laythe Base 1.(Coming Later today...)Target:I lost the base due to save corruption... Commander Jebidiah
I like your landing area. Planning on taking any boats?
DMSP
I like your landing area. Planning on taking any boats?Maybe Later. But anyway, here you go:For the first launch, I wanted to have two planes (For reconnoissance) and a Hab module. I had the Hab idea straight away, but I needed to test the plane. The takeoff was great, and it was very maneuverable. The landing got me. It was not stable enough, and rolled over. I managed to save Jeofrey.I made some changes and did another test, and everything went flawlessly. When I was at Insular Airfield, I tested the Ladder and planted a flag. I decided to test this craft's STOL capabilities.Craft preformed wonderfully.I thought gliding in would be a good option to test because if there was an jet shutoff, it could glide to safety. Months After Launching two Base craft to Jool, the first one arrived. I attached two planes and a Habitat. Apparently, I have no photos of the Launch or the de-orbiting and separation (I did take some, I just can't find where I put them.) But, Aircraft Ponodora came in nice and steady.I got no photos of reentry, because it was routine. The landing was something else. But, Joefrey made it. He was the second Kerbal on Laythe (For me) in 0.90 and my first plane landing on Laythe. The ceremonial flag was necessary. I was pretty proud!Meanwhile in Orbit:After de-orbiting the whole IPV (Inter-Planetary Vehicle) I re-orbited (Is that even a word?) the random Capsule thing. I actually have no idea why I did not just bring the Capsule too... I think it was because I wanted to test my Pin-Point landing skills. The trajectory of my craft was right on target. The Habitat was coming in!Just for the coolness. The habitat was perfectly positioned, and I decoupled the descent stage and deployed the 'chutes. The parachutes open as the first stage hits the ground. What a relief. He must be happy finally having some Gravioly. Edited December 30, 2014 by DMSP
lajoswinkler
I'm not sure if those wings will be ok for Laythe. They are pretty heavy, and pressure there is a bit above 0.7 atm.
DMSP
I think that they will work.New reports in the next few days. Edited January 1, 2015 by DMSP
Commander Jebidiah
you may find it hard to take-off and land with that pylon stuck to th bottom of the craft and with 80m/s impact tolerance you ain't getting rid of it easily.also you may struggle to land your plane with its gear placement.
