Screenshot naming

Recommended Posts

Hello Squad,

I was thinking that it would be great if you can change how the screenshot are named to some format based on date and time, for instance "13:56:12_04/25/2015.png" or something similar...

Now they are sorted by numbers (ie. screenshot1,2...254 etc.) and if you delete one of those "numbered" screenshots the next screenshot you take replace that missing number. I know that I can sort my pictures in my screenshot folder by date to see them in order, but then its causing some mess in naming order (34-2-17-35-36...).

What do you think about it? :)

// I hope that you know what im trying to say, my english is not that great :P

/// also, my first post..yay!

I'd prefer for them to be more ISO 8601ish and be YYYYMMDD_HHMMSS to ensure correct sorting, but yeah, something other than sceenshotX would be nice.

Well, I think that it makes more sense to start with date rather than time... :)

But I'm glad that you like this idea, so let's hope that developers will put this on their "todo" list :)

I support that suggestion, but I don't have any problems with the current naming scheme.

But ISO 8601 would be nice. Or let them choose :wink:

Maybe something like this:

Screenshot naming scheme:
[ ] continuous (e.g. screenshot42.png)
[X] ISO 8601 (e.g. 201407512-135412.png)
[ ] NATO (e.g. 121354Zjul14.png)

joking with the NATO scheme since it's as useless as the imperial scheme to sort files . :-P
