Crash when starting / loading game

Recommended Posts

KSP Version: v0.90

What Happens: crash when lauching new game

Mods / Add-Ons: none

I can start the game fine it's loading even with mod but crash if "module manager.dll" is in the gamedata folder.

With or without mod or dll the game crash after the choice of name, flag an difficulty.

The thing is ksp 0.25 worked fine.

But at the same time a some game seem to give me the same type of crash (shader??)

It's quite possible that the problem come more from my pc than the game.

(other game crashing dungeon of the endless, the last federation)

I tried without antivirus i even disinstalled it to be sure it wasn't in the background and my graphic driver are up to date.

link to crashlog of the game freshely installed and dxdiag.txt:

thank you for your time and even more if you can tell me from where come this  problem because i have absolutely no idea.

(i'am french so, my apologies if my english is strange i hope it's still understandable)

It's crash with a fresh install

&

with a fresh install + mod manager 2.5.6 dll!

but not at the same time one on loading/starting a game and the second on loading the game (when the game charge the parts etc)

Okay, we can fix this. First thing you'll want to do is open up a Command Prompt with admin privileges. Exactly how that's done may vary depending on your version of Windows, but for Win7 you can open the Start Menu and type cmd, then right-click the cmd.exe entry and select Run As Administrator. For Win8, you can press WinKey+X and select Command Prompt (Admin) from the context menu that appears.

Once you've got that open, enter the following commands, verbatim:

cd C:\Windows\Fonts

ren UNCL.TTF UNCL.TTF.BAK

Problem resolved

work with mod or without and no conflit with mod manager

If you have "modulemanager.dll" in your gamedata, of course its going to crash or otherwise break. "modulemanager.dll" is so deprecated its not even funny. You SHOULD have "modulemanager.2.5.x.dll" in your folder, where x is a number between 1 and 6 (but not 5, 2.5.5 came out extremely broken).

You can download the latest, which is 2.5.6 [thread=55219]here[/thread].

Fair enough, I have moved the thread back to stock support.

I see you have some shader issues: HighlightingSystem : Framebuffer depth data is not available and can't be used to occlude highlighting. Highlighting occluders enabled.

Some people have been having difficulty with the new highlight effects. The easiest way to check is by disabling Anti Aliasing in the Main Menu->Settings->Graphics page and see if that fixes the crashes. There have been some reports of NVIDA experience interfering, so that might be it (though I don't have that problem myself with my NVIDIA).

Cheers,
