SSTO wing collides into launch pad before landing on runway

Recommended Posts

Ahoy,

I had this weird issue on my career save.

Did a lenghty mission with an SSTO, providing crew, experiments and supplies to a station (with station science mod parts). Everything went fine, except the landing. Just a few meters before touching down, the right wing snapped and the plane crashed into the runway. The plane was under no specific stress or force at that moment.

Luckily, I did a quicksave before approaching KSC.

So I tried again - again, at the same point, the wing snapped. The crash log indicates: "Delta wing collided into launch pad".

Tried again, same result.

In the end, I landed the plane on the ground in front of the runway (it was not a max upgraded runway) and drove it onto the runway to recover. When I moved up to the runway, same again, wings snapped, same message.

As if I crashed into some invisible barrier. I don't think it has anything to do with the mods, but its a modded install so I can't post it on the stock support board.

Here's a link to my quicksave: https://www.dropbox.com/s/bjlb1grnx6pvd7r/quicksave.sfs?dl=0

And here some pics:

So in the end, a weird thing, I could not reproduce it except on that quicksave. Later mission landings went fine.

This is a known & extremely annoying issue, as far as I can tell nobody knows what's causing it.

For me, restarting the game before loading the quicksave fixes it.

Nice spaceplane BTW :)

If anyone knows what's actually going on here, please pipe up.
