Hi all,

I'm new to the forum but I've been playing KSP on and off for several years now, though somehow my daring kerbals haven't made it farther than Minmus yet. But I've gotten much enjoyment from building massive space stations and generally fooling around.

I'm very interested in learning more about modding in KSP. I have been inspired by mods like B9 Aerospace that enhance the overall look and feel of vehicles in the game, and would like to learn how to make my own parts. I have a design background and plenty of practice with modeling and texturing under my belt, so my plan is to work on gaining a better understanding of how parts work in-game. I've been pointed towards some great resources here for getting started.

And then maybe I'll finally go to Duna. Yeah.

:D

Welcome aboard! The forums are a great place to find the knowledge of modding that you seek. There are subforums entirely about modding that should be able to suit your needs- as I don't know much about modding myself, sorry!

Anywho, welcome aboard! I'll bet you'll have a great time here!

Hello! Welcome! :D

So you want to mod, eh? Sounds awesome! Now, I've only made planet packs (add-ons that add more celestial bodies to KSP), but personally I believe that is a great place for someone to start. I learned all about normal maps, height maps, etc., and how just one teensy tiny bit of code can make or break a mod. If you're interested, use Kopernicus.

Again, welcome!

There are lots of awesome looking mods out there with B9 Aerospace and Mechjeb being some of the most used. I use Mechjeb myself for helping automate launch windows and controlling attitude on more complex rockets. Both of these can be found on Curse (a place that is great for many games that use Steam and even a few that don't). I am starting out with just Mechjeb for awhile so I can get a feel for the vanilla game but I hope to mess around with ever more complex ones as I progress through the game.
