How do you download the latest KSP?

I just got back my laptop after months of repair and I'm desperate to update KSP (Mac OS X). I never know how to do that... do I download the demo? Or do I go to the shop? The launcher that comes with KSP is useless, it crashes and freezes and has never updated KSP. I know it's silly not to know how to updtae KSP but I wish there was a 'Download' section where you can just grab the latest version.

Here are the game download instructions (click on the steps and an image showing more details will be displayed):

Log in to your KSP Store account. 

Click the "My Account" button that will pop up after that. 

Click the Download button next to Kerbal Space Program in your Products Purchased area. 

Select the game version and Operating System of your choice. It is recommended to download the installer rather than the zip version. 

Choose to save the file to your computer, the image may differ depending on your browser.

Away from the Mün. On the navball, point retrograde (the little yellow marker with lines through it). Don't be surprised if you crash on your first try!

Why the installer? I'm using Win8.1, but I've always used the zip versions.
