KSP Not shutting down, running in background.

Recommended Posts

Using newest Yosemite on a 2 week old MBPr 15.4" w/ 8GB ram and 256SSD.

I can't tell you how to reproduce this because it is happening over and over with various stuff. If KSP crashes to the Desktop, which seems like constantly, it doesn't actually close. As you can see from the photo it isn't running anywhere, yet the process is still going pulling cycles. I am writing this about 15 minutes after the crash and it is still pulling proc time and draining my battery. On two occasions there has been multiple instances of the process going on at the same time, I was bleeding off about 1-2% battery life per minute while this was happening.

This is happening with both .90 and .25, both unmodded. This is also happening once the Aggressive Textures pack was applied.

  • 4 weeks later...

I discovered the same issue this morning on my 2012 MBPr w/ 4GB RAM. I went to empty the trashcan which contained two mods that I deleted. I was presented with "cannot delete Navball HUD because it is in use". KSP was not running at the time, so when I checked Activity Monitor I had 3 KSP processes running with the exact same CPU time as in the OPs image. Yes I am running several mods, I will test to see if I can replicate this in a modded or in an unmodded install, by force quitting and quitting via the exit menu.

I get ctds a lot with high part counts and similar in linux x64. It does, not unfrequently, end up running in the background. But I think I have to do something to make it do that. It had to do with shutting it down when it's locked in a particularly manner. But I forget what it is. Something did make me have to shut down the process or have steam tell me I can't run it while it's running. Just can't remember what! 8)
