Can't start or load a gamesave.

When I open KSP the main menu runs fine, but when I press resume saved it doesn't just freezes for half a second (as if loading) then doing nothing. same goes for the tutorial and scenario challenges. If I press Start new game the menu shows up to pick a flag etc. however When I press start in that window it freezes all the buttons, however the music and the background keep going steadily.

I've had this problem since first contract. I'm running windows 64x, I've tried both running the game in 64x and 32x, windowed mode updated my drivers uninstalled and re installed on mulitple occations. enabled and disabled my security system. Has anyone else had this problem? and how did they fix it?

Sounds like you have a corrupt save game. Try moving all of your savegames out and starting a new game. If that all functions correctly, exit out and try to resume the game. If that works, then you can start moving save files back one or a few at a time. When clicking on "Resume" stops bring up the game selection screen, then you have narrowed down the broken save.

If that doesn't work, then post a log file so we can have a look. Usually if you can start a new game, then it messes up next time, you might have it installed to some place like Program Files or the Desktop. Windows can mess up KSP in those locations.
