Result: Craft randomly exploded after taking off from Pol

Fixes/Workarounds: ???

Other Notes/Pictures/Log Files: This is my first post. I didn't manage to get the persistent file after it happened. I doubt it matters but here was the craft file at launch. Also please let me know if reporting this issue was worth your time and if there is anything else I should be doing.

I've actually experienced this too - it was like hitting an invisible wall. The game said the craft collided with terrain, if I recall correctly, despite being well clear of anything visible.

That was some time ago though - 0.24.2 / 32 bit KSP edition.

One thing I noted is that while I was landed, I planted a flag, went back to KSC to pick up any Pol contracts, and went back, and the flag was floating far above my ship in space.

Something's wonky with Pol's geometry, methinks.

(I sent a replacement craft and landed elsewhere and did not encounter the issue).

The flag for the first Pol landing is at 8 degrees, 51'43" South, 308 deg, 21'26" East. The ascent profile would have been close to, but visibly above the local terrain (at least 80m clear, probably more), to the East.

I know on Gilly, the visible terrain doesn't match properly. If you set an orbit below 6km (the low orbit limit for doing temperature scans), you will visibly be well above all terrain, but it's only a matter of time before you find a note about colliding with terrain in the game log, and the ship goes away.

I'd bet something similar is happening here on Pol. Probably any small world with very irregular terrain needs attention to make what's visible match with the collision geometry.
