Buggy temperature scan mission.

Recommended Posts

v0.90.0.705

I've received a temperature scan mission for the Mun which seems impossible to complete - I am unable to complete the final scan. It seems the game does not want to register that I am in the target zone. As a developer, my instincts tell me that this has something to do with another surface temperature scan which was part of the same mission, and nearly co-located - this first one completed without a hitch. I am not sure whether or not I was in both zones when doing the first scan, but it is a strong possibility.

I have moved in and out of the zone several times (traveling half way around the Mun). I am 100% sure I am close enough.

Save (the mun flag is approximately where the other zone was centered, and where I was landed when i took the first temp).

For testing I uninstalled all mods. On that save, I was using KAS, MecJeb2, Kerbal Alarm Clock, and the Docking Port Alignment mod; my ship contains none of the relevant parts, and these should not affect target zone detection anyway.

I think I have/had the same problem. There are missions to perform tempscans in flight. So I flew a mission to place a probe on a polar orbit. Did this than try to meassure temp. Not possible. Lowered the orbit to unter 9000m. Still did not work. So I let the probe alone and planned a new mission.

Just as I wrote this post I again tried and now it worked... Have the feeling it worked after a revover flight was not more possible (I went to space center).

I loaded up your save. You are 100% not in the zone. Fly a little further NE and you're in, where the temp scan completes the contract normally. There's a message on the screen that tells you when you're entering and leaving a scan zone. And you can click on the marker (on the map screen) to activate navigation towards it, so you're sure which direction to move.

When zones do actually overlap, which seems to be rare, being in the overlap will complete both zones with a single scan. I had exactly one case where that was possible, and that's what happened.

And for future reference, use four lander legs. I couldn't get that thing to stand up straight at all.
