wired2thenet
Hello, Kerbonauts!I\'ve been wondering this for a while now, trying to make best use of some side-mounted RCS fuel tanks (Tiberdine RCS tanks ... they\'re the orange 'airbag' looking ones). I generally like to place some on my main lander, and a few on other stages in order to maximum space. Occasionally, all works without an issue, but lately I\'ve noticed some get used up when I don\'t want them to.Is there any 'pecking order' in which they get used up? (ie, first placed is first used, etc). Thanks in advance!

wired2thenet
As you place each group of them, check where they go in the staging column, they are used up in staging order. So does that mean that stage 1 goes before stage 2? Or vice versa?
vexx32
Normally, it goes in reverse staging order, so the ones in the lower stages get drained first. However, there\'s a bug where if you add an RCS tank to a higher stage after adding all the others, it\'ll drain those first -- it appears to drain them in reverse order to when they were added, for some strange reason. That ought to be fixed in the next version; we\'ve had two or three different bug reports about it.

That\'s what I thought the case was, but I kept seeing something slightly different from time to time I couldn\'t explain right away, thus the question above. I\'m usually careful about adding fuel from the top down (it\'s the OCD in me), but the last Munar launch I did, it went very wonky. All the RCS at the top of the stages drained first, even though they were placed first. I didn\'t notice this until I jetisoned the final stage before landing on the Mun. Didn\'t really matter too much, but the size of the craft necessitate RCS to get it moving in a reasonable time when going retrograde. Had to baby it for almost 20 minutes to get it into position.Even Jeb complained on THAT mission.
vexx32
Yeah, I\'ve noticed some strange behaviours with RCS tanks occasionally. It doesn\'t usually bother me too much :/
