stuttering performance

Recommended Posts

The game, while otherwise running perfectly, freezes every 10 seconds or so for a split second. It's not a lag thing, I can be getting 60fps and everything is smooth, except for this stutter.

KSP version 0.90.0

OS: windows 7

I had this in the previous version of KSP too, but that was heavily modded and I thought that was the cause. This time I'm running stock, but it is still happening.

If I build a ~50 part craft and just sit on the runway and hold down an arrow key to pan the camera, the camera moves perfectly smoothly but then suddenly stops moving for a split second. When actually playing, panning the camera around when it happens can suddenly put you on the other side of the craft (it seems like it carries on listening to input, but not updating the screen during the freeze).

until this version and the last I never had this issue. Any suggestions?

It's a problem with the Unity engine scripting language and it's garbage collection (i.e. freeing up unused resources). Until they update to a version of Unity where this is fixed (assuming such a thing ever exists), this will be be a problem.

Saving and returning from the main menu can often make it go away for a while. It tends to be the worst when working with very large craft, especially in the VAB/SPH. But simply playing for a while can also bring it on.

thanks Thanny. Your suggestion of jumping back to the main menu does help a little and it is worse with large ships. Odd thing is that I never used to have this issue at all and that was making much larger, more modded craft. It's making the game almost unplayable, I just tried launching a 150 part craft and it was freezing every 1-2 seconds.
