Air launched shuttle?

Recommended Posts

But not really. I don't know what to call it. It gets one kerbin into orbit.

Would have been so much more difficult to build without being able to move the root part. Messing with the separate sections so they were stable together and separately was almost impossible before. :D

If you want to give it a go...

- Hit 2 for the turbo jets

- Put the prograde marker on about 40 degrees and leave it there

- at about 18.5K hit 3 which lights the SRBS.

- This should give you an apoapsis well outside the atmosphere.

- Separate and circularise the orbiter

- Land the launch vehicle wherever you can.

Now there's a challenge for you:

Launch a mother airplane, detach an orbital shuttle mid-flight and cruise up to 70+km suborbital, then shuttle comes down and redocks with mother craft while still flying.

Now that's a real challenge, especially when the shuttle doesn't have jets, what I don't think.
