[Bug?/Workaround] Switch between root/global axis for mirror symmetry?

Recommended Posts

With the advent of the new editor extensions, some curious functions have popped up without being overtly announced.

For instance, rotating the root part of a craft changes the mirror symmetry axis.

The root part in this case is the dual engine pylon, rotated 90 degrees.

While the function is useful, it might cause some confusion, as it has caused for me here.

I understand this wouldn't come up often, and the workaround is pretty simple - with the stock re-root function, you can just choose a new root part for the symmetry axis.

However, wouldn't it be neat to have vessel-wide mirror symmetry based on global coordinates as well? Just so you can switch between mirror-symmetry based on a specific part, or the vessel as a whole. The radial symmetry mode already has that switch, accessible by pressing F when placing parts. Maybe add that switch to Mirror symmetry as well?
