Reminds me of that time people couldn't figure out that insects exist.

Funniest thing I ever saw. Not a lone person making a mistake due to lack of education and/or mental disposition, no. The fact a big company is either stupid enough to make the same mistake, or corrupt enough to run with it anyhow for the add revenue.

The most popular skeptic argument is that it's the moon. But based on how over-saturated the Earth is in these videos, my gut tells me it isn't bright enough to be the moon. That doesn't mean it isn't though. Even the relative size of the moon is nearly impossible for us to gauge with our eyes, because there's a known optical illusion that makes us see it differently based on how close it is to the horizon. But the lack of brightness of the object has me doubting.

The moon has an albedo that is really, really low: it reflects a tiny fraction of the light that shines upon it. The albedo of the Moon is about the same as that of asphalt.

The over-saturated clouds, however? Their albedo is much, much higher. Albedo of clouds is usually about five times brighter than the Moon, and sometimes more. (The average albedo of the Moon is 0.08-0.12, depending on who you ask, while clouds' albedos can reach 0.6 or even up to 0.75.)

So the reason that the clouds look overexposed while the Mystery Object remains dark is that the Mystery Object reflects a fifth of the light that the clouds do. That thing is the moon.

Just from eyeballing it, the object looks to be the right size and shape to be the Moon, as well as having the correct brightness and illumination.

Oh, and the thing that you saw at 0:31 in the video that you shared? That's what happens when sunlight reflects off a calm sea. Simple as that.

With all due respect to this 'Streetcap1,' learning the facts takes about fifteen minutes (I did it faster, as I know what I'm looking for) and saves a heck of a load of embarrassment. This is an embarrassing video.
