Badger Industries

I have decided to record my interplanetary missions, documenting them using pictures. My first mission here will be the third time I have left Kerbin's SOI and the first time to leave it in my new save.

My goal is to keep this save alive for as long as possible (thank goodness for the announcement of 1.0, hopefully no more mod/game breaking updates), and visit every body in the Kerbol system to some capacity. Also, I plan to return every Kerbal at some point (even if they are stranded on Eve for a couple of years).

Special Thanks to Brotoro, who's mission reports are not only well written, but have taught me about planetary transfers.

Ship Manifest

Andromeda

The Andromeda is the first interplanetary ship in Badger Industries Fleet. She has nearly 6,000 delta-v without a payload, and can carry entire sections of bases to Duna or Eve. The Andromeda has been equipped with Autonomous operating units, so that she can return in the event of the loss of her pilot. There are plans to send her to Dres as well. She has been built to accommodate 5 crew members, which could be extended with an extra module (added to the payload bay).

Command: "Liftoff!"

Jeb: "Goodbye Kerbin!"

Gusster: "Command, how long did you say this mission is?"

Command: "Depends on how long your transfer is. You will have about 60 to 100 days at Duna."

Edlu: "Did we pack enough snack?"

Hadbles: "I checked. We've got enough to last us a few years."

Edlu: "Thank Goodness."

Jeb: "Beginning orbital insertion."

Gusster: "How long 'till we rendezvous?"

Jeb: "2 hours."

Edlu: "Jeez, that thing is huge!"

Jeb: "Command, I have visual with the ship. There appears to be external damage."

Command: "Seanly hasn't reported any. What do you see?"

Jeb: "An utter lack of boosters."

Command: "Very funny."

Jeb: "And... Docked! Hadbles, open the hatch."

Hadbles: "Got it!"

Seanly: "Hey guys! Welcome aboard the Andromeda!"

Edlu: "Heyho! Guys, meet Seanly, my cousin."

Gusster: "You never told us he was your cousin!"

Seanly: "Suprise! Here, I'll show you around. Being cooped up in here supervising it's construction is very fun, and you're the first kerbals I've seen in weeks."

Command: "Please separate the shuttle first so we can bring it back."

Hadbles: "No problem!"

5 Days Later...

Jeb: "Is everybody buckled up?"

Gusster: "Affirmative!"

Edlu: "Yep!"

Hadbles: "Roger!"

Seanly: "Yes!"

Command: "You have go for Andromeda 1."

Jeb: "Engine ignition!"

Andromeda 1: Arrival

378 days and a course correction later...

Jeb: Hey guys! Look at this view!

CdgqTCz.png

Edlu: Whoa...

Hadbles: I never realized how red Duna was until I now.

Gusster: Yeah. I wonder what is in it's soil to make it that red.

Seanly: Do you guys realize we are the first kerbals to see Duna up close and personal?

KwqMC1F.png

Jeb: Yeah, about that, you guys should buckle up before your up close and personal with the wall. Command?

Command: Yes Jeb, we are standing by.

Jeb: We are preparing for aerobraking, periapsis at 12,053 meters.

Command: Plugging those numbers in now... looks like your Apoapsis will be at 195,147 meters.

Jeb: Copy. Entering atmosphere now.

Hadbles: Temperature holding.

Edlu: It's getting shaky back here!

Hadbles: There is no damage yet... we are still in the clear.

Jeb: gaining altitude!

Jeb: Apoapsis at 195,147 meters! Nice!

Command: Congratulations gentlemen, you are the first to orbit Duna.

Gusster: Not yet, we still have to circularize.

Seanly: Time to unpack the celebratory snacks!
