on a mac: space bar launches vehicle and deploys parachute simultaneously

Talk about a short, eventful flight and tragic end for my test Kerbonaut! Space bar works as advertised in tutorials, but not in the game. Where might I find the latest Mac keyboard map?

Sounds like you have your parachutes in your bottom stage, which usually happens if you don't have any stack decouplers in your rocket. You can add and edit stages in the VAB.

An early Career rocket, where there is no separating decoupler, will default to the parachute and engine in the same staging location. Rearrange the staging, as shown below, to fix that issue. Note, you can right click on the SRB to bring up a label that will allow you to tweak thrust and fuel load for a better controlled flight.
