I was going to post this as a mod suggestion, but apparently suggesting combat/weapon related add-ons is disallowed.

For anyone that's played it, what are your thoughts on doing a KSP-based mod using the concept of the game?

For anyone that's interested in making such a mod, I am. I'm a skilled programmer, but my 3d art is lacking.

How is it not allowed? There are a plethora of weapons mods.

It's only disallowed in the "Suggestions and Development" section. Try the "Addon Requests" subforum.
