If only squad could get rid of the loading distance limit on a specified craft and fix the float point errors...

I believe this is more a problem with Unity than it is with Squad. In KSP, Squad deals with this as best it can by making the selected command pod (or Kerbal if on EVA) the "center of the universe", for the purposes of calculations; if I understand correctly.

Oi... Unity. Of course. Would it be accurate to say the 64bit version is better with float point errors by chance? I'd use the larger loading distance more often, but as craft get farther apart stuff starts to shake all over.

If only squad could get rid of the loading distance limit on a specified craft and fix the float point errors. I'm certain if that were the case it'd be common practice to fly your boosters back to the launch pad. I've been doing it with BGDArmory's 500km load distance and it's really... Really cool. I should make a video. And get LazTek...

Basically just copying the Falcon 9 trajectory, stage deplete, seperates then I get MechJeb to take the second stage to orbit while I boost the first stage back and land right back at the pad. By this point the second stage is just about done. I recover the booster then switch to the next stage in orbit through the tracking station.

Mechjeb landing bugs out however if I don't babysit it or... After a certain distance perhaps. Otherwise I'd just set the landing guidance and control the second stage while the first lands on its own.

Mechjeb is incapable of boosting back on its own. So I wonder... If I placed a barge down range would I be able to recover the craft if it landed on said barge? Or would it be buggy and not let me? Because I'm thinking if MJ doesn't have to perform a large boostback then it may work by itself. I know it can. I've been doing Grasshopper tests and watching my rocket land all by itself while I watch from another craft. It's freakin awesome.

I use Mechjeb for this. This is how i make it work. I launch into a 75km orbit for my small sat then let it go and complete the orbit and circularise after that i let MJ bring me close to the barge and land on it and recover vessel. Later on i will use a CLAW and catch it on the barge to move it around.

100% re-usability doesn't need any kind of 'fancy' reloading method.

Just make a fuel tank with wheels and a claw then fill her up and fly again and again. easy as pie.

This is true if you're only orbiting passengers and/ or fluid supplies, and I have refueling trucks and passenger buses for my spaceplanes. *BUT*...

If you're orbiting cargo it's a different story. You need a way to place the cargo into (or in my case onto) the launch vehicle. That's a bit trickier...

Best,

Reusable is the ability to refuel and do it ALL over again (and return to the fuel source). You are recovering and selling the parts.

To me I am not selling the part to someone but rather the distance from KSC is a fee paid for going out and getting a part; closer to KSC the less the "recovery team" has to do to get the items, but further out means they will charge you more.

Slash is right. If you are going to bring the craft back to KSC then manually load some cargo onto it with a crane it will take longer than taking into the VAB and just adding the cargo onto it.
