A grand joining of mods and a unified texture pack.

So today i was playing with my son, and we downloaded minecraft again, tinkered with it, watched him building a house and hacking zombies, and then afterwards, i remembered tekkit and sphax, and i have it on my pc again :).

It got me thinking, do the modders out there have any plans to make a similar system for ksp? What is the plausibility of this? It adds sooooo much to the base minecraft game, and i can't play it without it.

Obviously RAM is a major issue in ksp with this, and minecraft is a lot simpler to mod (i'm guessing here but it seems like it would be, and the same for textures).

It's be good to see what the people in the know think of an idea like this. Maybe this is already in the works, RoverDude, Nertea, B9, KW, Dmagic, KAS, CIT, CTT, TAC, RT2, IR Robotics (with the new textures), Boxsat, all those mods combined make the "perfect" ksp for me.

Discuss!!!

Well, I know KerbalStuff allows "modpacks" to be made, no idea how that works exactly though.

I imagine it might also be able to bundle that with a texture pack-type thing, Ven's Stock Revamp shows it should be possible.

Biggest obstacle might be contacting all the modders for permission...

This question comes up every so often, especially in comparison to Minecraft.

One good mod pack I know of is Realism Overhaul. It has a clearly defined goal (realism) and people benefit from having all the mods packaged together and their configs tweaked.

Another is Astronomer's Visual Pack, which supplies configs and textures for a bunch of mods (PlanetShine, EVE, Distant Object Enhancement) to make the game look better.

Beyond those two I don't really see a point of mod packs. Just pick and choose the mods you like.

What would be the benefit of a modpack that just throws some random mods together (RoverDude, Nertea, B9, KW, Dmagic, KAS, CIT, CTT, TAC, RT2, IR)? There's nothing to be done to integrate or configure these mods to work together. You just pile them all into GameData and you're done. If you're using CKAN, you just click a few times and you're done.

I could make a modpack on CKAN or KerbalStuff and call it "hab136's modpack!!!!!1111eleven" and list the mods I use. But why? Nobody's going to want the exact same set of mods that I want.
