Select one part by itself?

Recommended Posts

I've spent all afternoon building something epic and went to test the ladder. I can't get my kerbals inside unless I move it. If I could just select an individual part it would be a piece of cake, but the problem is that there are part groups and it would ruin my whole craft if I click on the ones I need to move. How can I select one part by itself when it has a bunch of other ones grouped together to it? And also wondering how you make parts group like that or not in the first place.

I am very grateful towards anyone who helps me out!

A picture of the craft in question would be most helpful here, but it sounds like you just want to move a ladder, which shouldn't be too difficult. You should be able to clip the camera inside your rocket and expose the part of the ladder hidden by whatever you attached it to, then just move your mouse over it and mke sure that it's highlighted, also you can use CTRL+Z to undo anything that you have done.

No, I'm afraid what you want is not possible

For getting them up the ladder, you can try to make a curved ladder (with the small ladder segments) so that they climb over the edge, and only have to let go after they are where you want them to bo

Next release introduces (better) ability for Kerbals to climb onto ledges, etc. apparently.

Meanwhile - yes, when you select a part in the VAB/SPH you also select all child pieces, that's the way the construction engine works.

However, what I find odd, ladders can't have child pieces so they are always selectable individually. I think you'll just have to be more careful with the mouse-pointer.

No I think he wants to remove a specific pannel and make a gap, so the ladder can go through it. It's a pannel that gives problems
