Bell Rocket Belt

Yesterday I saw a documentary on N24 (German channel, guess you don´t know it) about jetpacks and specifically the "Bell Rocket Belt".

It was invented in the 1960s and could fly about 21s.

I liked this craft so much, that I tried to make a KSP version of it. Here´s what I came up with:

I think it looks very good, my only problem was fuel. The Oscar-B is the smallest tank avaible, but it still was too big. I tried to replicate the three small tanks with empty sepatrons, but the Oscar still disturbs the look very much :(, as you can see in this back view:

Another SPH pic:

Hope you like it nevertheless.

How to fly:

1. EVA

2. Board the seat

3. Full throttle

4. Space to eject and fire the engines. The thrust limiters are set on 50.5%, so it should just hover if you have full thrust.

5. Fly! It is very easy to handle, maybe an experienced player could even fly it to the VAB top (I lack flying skills, I can´t)

Tell me what you think.

Vurry cool. does it fly for 21s like the real one?

Thanks!

640 m/s D/V divided by 10 m/s^2 Acceleration - that's about 64 seconds.

KER tells me 44.9 seconds, acceleration is 12.78 m/s2.

Thats twice the flighttime of the real one, but mine is a bit bigger (because of the silly Oscar). It looks even bigger because Kerbals are so small (just 75cm), and he´s sitting, too. If they could just stretch their legs...

Yellow cables make the design interesting visually

Good job

Thank you! I had a desing with struts instead of fuel lines, but I thought they were too thin compared to the hardpoints.

And ... all the photos of the belt were black-and-white - how can you be sure these lines weren´t yellow.:sticktongue:
