[stock] Easy Orbiter!

Recommended Posts

I built this little rocket, inspired by Kosmo-naut, to use stock parts and be a fuel efficient son of a gun! While it may not be as efficient as him, this rocket is very easy to orbit, and has just enough fuel for a lunar orbit or a free return trajectory. The best part is, it\'s entirely stock. It does require version 14.4+, so all you demo guys better buy the game!

Here\'s a picture of it. The mission profile is very simple. It can make high orbits, but I recommend it for 100KM, because low-orbit is just so nice.

If anyone needs a nominal flight plan to help them out, I can also drop that in as sort of a guideline on how to orbit this thing or get to the mun, but I\'m sure nobody will have any issues. I changed the craft name from 'Stock orbit' to 'RadioFlier1', so hopefully that didn\'t corrupt it or anything. If it did, please let me know!

DOWNLOAD

This folder includes the craft itself and a guide to a nominal flight plan of a 100KM orbital mission.

UPDATE!

The new Lunar version is out! It is fully capable of a trip to the mun, several orbits and a nice return. I have not tested it with a lander yet, but I think it *may* be too top heavy for the payload in that case. Anyway, give this new version a try and see if you can put a Lunar Module on it. Again, it\'s entirely stock!

Here\'s the download.

I tried to load it, but it\'s using a RadialDecouplerHeavy part.

I also want to point out that you only need one ASAS module (they control capsule torque, gimballed engines, and winglets). Just take the radial ones off, as they are redundant and don\'t provide any 'magical torque'.

Radial Decoupler heavy? Hm. I may have gotten confused when I saw it in the parts section. Let me check here, I\'ll fix that right away.

And I will take those off.

UPDATE:

Apparently those parts were FAKES! Somebody had modified them and said Harv made them. Anyway, they\'ve been switched out with the regular radial decouplers and the struts. The download link should be fixed now and the craft is titled, 'Radio Flier Rocket' in that folder. I\'m thinking about deleting all my mods to start from scratch and new... Should I?

Just unzip another version of KSP, from your download! Keep both on the Desktop. 1 Stock, 1 Modded!

I\'d be keen on giving it a go, when its Stock only parts.

PS: only need 1 ASAS unit.

It\'s already entirely stock. After Kosmo(...) commented, I went and switched the suspicious parts. Anyway, all is well now and it is available as completely stock. I\'m currently working on a Radio Flier IB, which is a heavy payload rocket used to take a LM to the mun and return it safely to Kerbin.

I like that idea. Where\'s the like button!
