Minmus Welcomes Careful Outpost Drivers

I recently landed a mobile "outpost" on Minmus.

I had some survey contracts to do, so I headed off across the surface to my next waypoint.

I had planned my route to avoid any mountainous terrain, so I made good progress.

Unfortunately, the authorities on Minmus have installed new "traffic calming measures" to deter rover drivers from speeding.

Time to press F9 methinks...

I reloaded and returned to the same site. My ship was built for a contract as a surface "base". You can see the contract waypoint I'm trying to drive to.

The rift is in exactly the same place as before.

I tried driving the ship through very slowly to see what would happen.

Boom!

I've placed flags at both ends of the rift, as well as at the location where I first encountered it..

I followed the rift south over some quite treacherous terrain.

The rift is 20km long.
